The term “total failure” can be misconstrued by its initial interpretation by those who are relatively new to the weight training “game”. To break it down for those who question the theory and concept, its origin and mentality comes from the earlier days of weight training in which we now call “Old School”. When there were no fancy cardio machines to tell you when you can quit or weight machines that told you what to do, one had to rely on self motivation and perseverance to push them selves to be better than the other. Free-weights, guts, sweat, dedication and a will to be the best. When exhaustion was achieved, it was only the beginning.

A typical session performed by an individual who figures they have a “good” exercise routine may lack the intensity and will to push their body past a certain limit where few, now a days ever experience. This relates to exhaustion and how a particular individual greets it. When training using the Total Failure concept, that particular individuals state of mind is altered to believe they can and will excel past the point of exhaustion and thrust the body into another realm where eventually the body will fail and reach “Total Failure”…thus creating maximum results in a shorter period of time. Total Failure is total success…..take control and be the best.
